Ready for the Saint Petersburg Dance Holidays 2016?

8th Saint Petersburg Dance Holidays 2016, international ballroom dance festival and competition, takes place at the 27th and 28th of August 2016, the last summer dance weekend. Being a WDC AL dance event, it’s also a great opportunity for tourism by visiting one of the most exciting and beautiful cities of Russia.

About the Dance Holidays

The Saint-Petersburg Dance Holidays 2016 is one of the major international dance events among those that take place in Russia. This year it’s the 8th event in the Saint-Petersburg Dance Holidays series. Positioned as traditional dance festival it is the nearest event from the WDC AL (World Dance Council Amateur League) calendar. It means that the event complies with the corresponding international WDC rules and regulations. The festival includes a special dance show program performed by World Latin Dance Champions – Riccardo Cocchi and his dance partner Yulia Zagoruychenko. They won their first World Latin Dance Championship in 2010, and earned their second title in 2011. Being ranked number 1 in the world for Professional Latin, they also won their 5th consecutive US National Professional Latin Champions title at the US Open Dance Competition.

Yulia Zagoruychenko, originally from Russia, born September 11th, 1981 (age 34) is the current World Latin Dance Champion, with her partner - Riccardo Cocchi, born December 19th, 1977 (age 39) in Italy, is the current World Latin Dance Champion according to the WDC.

Of course, the Saint-Petersburg Dance Holidays contains the competition part, too. You will meet couples from various dance schools from all over the world: USA, Hong-Kong, Germany, Finland, Ukraine, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Poland, Lithuania, Monaco, Great Britain, Israel, Italy, UAE and others.

The Saint-Petersburg Dance Holidays 2016 organized by Andrey Bushchik and Valeriya Bushueva, Russian Dance Union. Andrey and Valeriya are former professional dancers and currently are dance instructors and organizers of ballroom dance tournaments. Dancing together since 1996, they ranked #9 in the World Latin Dance Rating, became Russian and European champions at Latin dance show.

The Competition

Our Dance For You studio plans to participate in the following categories:

  • Pro/Am category (when a student dances with his/her professional dance teacher, read more).
  • Hobby Class (students couples dance with each other).
  • Kids classes as per WDC rules.
  • Am/Am (Amateur and Amateur)

Together with your dance instructor you are welcome to choose which category to compete in which could include:

  • Single dances (when you are being judged for dancing only one dance of your choice. You can enter many times in this category with different dances).
  • 2 Dance Challenge (when you dance in two dances)
  • 3 Dance Challenge (three dances)
  • 4 Dance Challenge (four dances)
  • 5 Dance Challenge (five dances)
  • Scholarship (You dance in all 5 dances, Latin or Standard, or both)
  • Showcases (Am/Am; Pro – Am, Pro)
  • Championship in Ballroom and Latin American dances

All the participants will be divided according to their age group and dancing level.

The event takes place in Saint Petersburg – second largest city of Russia after Moscow. It has unique architecture and is considered to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world and the cultural heart of Russia. Saint Petersburg is famous for The Hermitage, one of the largest art museums in the world, palaces, beautiful bridges, parks and other attractions. Going to Saint Petersburg Dance Holidays is a great chance for tourism and sightseeing!

Accommodation of the participants will be at "Holiday Inn Hotel" located near historical center of the city.

Average temperature in August is 20.8°C (69.4°F), raining regularly happens, so umbrella is recommended. But please check the weather forecast beforehand anyway.
